The Council Chambers, Cat's Lair, Thundera

Lion-o was bored. The council meeting had dragged on and on. It wasn't like they were discussing anything fun like mutant attacks or stuff like that. Tygra was giving some report about geothermal instability, which wasn't making a lot of sense to Lion-o.
The Thunderkittens were sitting right across the table from him. They were sixteen, a few years older than Lion-o, and they got stuck at the same council meeting because they also came from a family of Thunderian nobles. Lion-o stuck his tongue out at Wileykit, who started giggling. Next to her, Wileykat was going to great lengths to ignore Lion-o and was nodding at whatever Tygra said.
The council chambers suddenly became quiet, and Lion-o felt a hand on his shoulder. "I know that you would rather be outside playing, young Lion-o," said Jaga. "But if you are to rule one day, you must learn how government works."
"I know, Jaga. I'm sorry," said Lion-o, feeling ashamed. He could almost feel his father, Claudus, watching him from the head of the table, even though Lion-o knew that Claudus was left blind in a mutant attack. Ever since, Claudus had shared his leadership duties with Jaga, who was the oldest and wisest of the Thundercats.
"I suppose this is good timing for the next issue on our agenda," said Jaga. "Claudus and I have had some discussions regarding the education of our future lord. Perhaps the time has come to send Lion-o away for a different sort of preparation than we can give him."
"You're not sending him away without me!" screeched Snarf, taking a flying leap and landing on the table. His red and white fur stood on end, a sign that old Snarf was very angry. "Someone has to take care of the boy, snarf snarf. You're not going to leave him out in the universe unprotected from mutant attacks and the like."
"Relax, Snarf," said Jaga. "The school that I've found for Lion-o is very safe, and of course you're welcome to go with him."
"Someone has to make sure that Lion-o eats his vegetables and goes to bed on time," added Claudus. Lion-o made a face at that, which caused the rest of the Thundercats to burst out laughing.
"You will have many adventures in the coming years, Lion-o," said Jaga. "Remember the Code of Thundera: truth, honor, loyalty and justice. As long as you keep the code in your heart, you will never be far from us."
