lordofthecats: (Code of Thundera)
Lion-o is from the animated kids show Thundercats. The Thunderans are a species of cat-like humanoids that live on a planet called Thundera. The Thundercats -- Lion-o, Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, and fraternal twins WileyKat and WileyKit -- are Thunderan nobles who sit on the ruling council. They are led the wise warrior Jaga and Claudus, Lion-o's father and the hereditary Lord of the Thundercats.

The show itself actually starts when Thundera is destroyed in an explosion, so the version of Lion-o in Fandom is pre-canon. In other words, I'm having to make up some of this stuff as I go along. Lion-o is just a small boy who will one day have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, but he thinks that's a long way off. Lion-o's father was blinded in a battle with their mortal enemies, the evil Mutants from the planet Plun-darr. His mother is totally absent in canon, so I've adopted the theory that Lion-o's mother was killed in a Mutant attack. He won't be talking about her a lot.

Lion-o has his caretaker, Snarf, with him. Snarfs are smaller, intelligent cat-like furry non-humanoid creatures that also come from Thundera. They are very loyal and incapable of evil. They usually have names, except this one is named Osbert so he much prefers to go as Snarf. Snarf has taken care of Lion-o since he was a small cub. He cooks, cleans, and generally hangs out in Lion-o's dorm room when he's not nagging Lion-o.

During a visit to Nemesis Island last year, Lion-o ran into trouble and the Sword of Omens came to his aid. The Sword of Omens belongs to the Lord of the Thundercats. It's got a lot of nifty powers, including the ability to change sizes, but right now, the only powers Lion-o will be using is Sight Beyond Sight and warnings of danger. The sword will allow Lion-o to see faraway events in real time, though I am limiting this to the boundaries of Fandom Island except for special plotty circumstances. The sword also has a psychic conenction with Lion-o and will also alert him whenever someone is in trouble, even while its stored in the weapons locker. I'd love to see Lion-o and the sword help out in any sort of plot.

The Thundercats didn't actually wear any clothing when they lived on Thundera (this was a kids show?) and there's only two episodes where you see him as a young boy. That means I didn't have a lot of usable screencaps to make icons from. You'll see that I'm probably using the same icon over and over again. I do have some adult Lion-o icons and they may occasionally pop-up in a thread just, but for now, Lion-o is still just a little boy.

And one last random fact: Lion-o's voice actor is Larry Kenney, who is provides the voices of Count Chocula and Sonny the Coco-Puffs Bird.

There's another info post for the Arms Hotel, which is available for your convention plots, special occasions, or whatever you may need a hotel room for. You can always contact me OOCly if you need to arrange for a hotel room.

I think that's it, because it took me way too long to write this considering I was keeping it short. My contact info is in user info for my characters and my kids are always available for plots.

If you're familiar with Thundercats, the important thing to note is that this is young Lion-o. He's a little prince on his home world of Thundera, where the natives are cat-like humanoids. The Thundercats are the nobles of Thundera, and Lion-o's injured father is their leader along with the mighty warrior Jaga. The job is going to fall to Lion-o one day, but he thinks he's got plenty of time to worry about that later.  He'll have his nursemaid Snarf with him to keep him out of trouble (hopefully). The adult Lion-o from the series is very strong and very agile, but this is little Lion-o. He's got a long way to go. He's going to be arriving in Fandom just short of his 14th birthday, which happens to be July 21st, and he's probably going to be the smallest kid on the island.

The proper spelling is "Lion-o" but goodness knows that I get it wrong half the time. Lion-o won't have his fancy Sword of Omens with him yet since he's too little to actually use it. Also, we are going to ignore the fact that the Thundercats didn't actually wear any clothing until they left Thundera.

And if you've never seen Thundercats, here's the intro from the premiere episode
